As a consultant, you’re trying to stay independent, not taking sides and avoiding direct speech. You position yourself as ‘the situation’. Consequently, you’re going to be writing a lot of passive sentences. If you’re tired of the blue lines under your sentences in Microsoft Word, I present you an easy solution: simply disable the passive voice writing style checker :-).

In the passive voice, according to Wikipedia, the noun or noun phrase that would be the object of a corresponding active sentence appears as the subject of a sentence. Here are examples I took from the Ashford University website.

Press Ok twice and write away!

Great success!
